• NOV is excited to now offer customers the TruVertical™ system as a new offering within the Tolteq™ measurement-while-drilling (MWD) product family.

The TruVertical system provides directional drillers and E&P operators with real-time access to critical MWD measurements (inclination, azimuth, toolface, and gamma) in vertical or low-angle well sections without the need for a traditional costly MWD tool and the associated rigsite operators.

The TruVertical system is based on the highly successful iSeries MWD tool (with more than 600 tools in the field) and incorporates several new and unique features that enable it to be operated without a dedicated crew at the rigsite. The TruVertical system arrives at the rigsite already installed into a drill collar and will automatically turn on once installed into the BHA. An advanced surface system automatically then detects and decodes the downhole data and displays it graphically for the driller and directional driller. At the conclusion of the run, the tool automatically switches off to ensure battery consumption and operating costs are minimized.

The tool is available in 4¾-, 6½-, and 8-in. sizes for drilling hole sections between 5⅞- and 13¾-in. size. The TruVertical system incorporates the patented ToolTracker™ capabilities, which provide post-run access to detailed environmental and operating data for optimized repair and maintenance processes.

With access to the TruVertical system, directional drilling service providers, rig contractors, and E&P operators can now reduce their operating costs when drilling vertical or low-angle well sections.
